How can i play video games on my panasonic viera television?

Please help! I am trying to figure out how to play video games on my television. Whenever I plug in the red, white, and yellow visual and audio plugs from my xbox 360 in the vid 1 (in the back of the tv) or vid 2 (on the side) nothing happens. On the input menu I have several options to choose from: HDMI 1, Apple, and Other. Below this options are others which are in gray and i can not select: Component 1, component 2, Vid 1, and Vid 2. I can never select those options. I desperatley want to play my console on this television.
