Is it hard to be a model?

I see girls on magazines that r pretty ugly and I wonder how they are even models. I am not trying to be rude or anything but its true. Alot of girls I know are models and Im shocked! The girls are not tall and most wear to much make up daily! Does it just depend on what modeling agency they go to? I thought it was hard being a model..? Lol Im thinking some modeling agencies are not picky about who they select? I want to be a model too. I think im fit to be one but I hear from people that Its to hard but then I see alot of girls getting selected to be one.
