RAMADAN: What is the penalty for cursing Sahhaba?

Cursing furnishes a relief denied even to prayer. We all feel the need to curse. However, one should as much as possible respect the sensibilities of others. Cutting off necks and other such punishments for something as minor as cursing belong to the Middle Ages, and the sayings or writings of persons from that time, regardless of their eminence at that time, should not be followed in these more enlightened times. Unfortunately, Islam is still rooted in the Middle Ages.
