Anesthesia side effect: impaired mental function, mental slowness, disorientation 2 weeks after surgery?

My father-in-law had an angioplasty in early May with "twilight sleep" and we thought he seemed a little slower mentally after that. About 3 weeks ago, he had knee replacement surgery and is still slow - or slower - mentally. Seems sometimes disoriented on the phone, out of bed and dressed at 4 a.m., etc. Blood tests reveals anesthesia still in the bloodstream but doctor said to come back for a recheck in 2 weeks and if its still there, I suppose they will do something more. We thought at first that he had a stroke but apparently its leftover anesthesia or a side effect of it. I suppose someone could even mistake it for early dementia. Has anyone seen this before? Wondering if it just goes away or if the experience is a permanent sort.

I think you do have a right to exam exemption OR accommodations which is what they would do for me. For sure, talk to a counselor/advisor/principal whoever before it adversely affects your GPA. Trust me i know this. I completely understand the doctors visits, more than average. Make your teacher/counselor aware of this, they will care more about you, and will be nicer to you in your course loads. it worked for me. They also provide a homeschool teacher for free who will help you in your school work and will turn your work in for you.

Scedueled c-sections are SOOOO much better then emergency ones, so be thankful for it being planned. Csections are def. not as bad as everyone puts them out to be. The only advice i give you, is to make sure you ask for anti-nausea meds before they give you your spinal, because along with the spinal they give you 24 hours worth of morphine for pain control, and some people get sick from it. Other then that, just enjoy the fact that all the work is being done for you. Also, even though you'll be sore afterwards, try AS SOON AS YOU CAN, to get up and walk around because it makes recovery sooo much better. Other than that, just relax and you'll do great! Good Luck, I'm having my second c-section after an emergency 4 years ago on tuesday, so we'll be recovering together! COngrats!

That was the safety issue i guess. Then on this same sheet of paper it says plans/serices for saftey factor. It says that i have to stay in the state. That husband had to go to every prenatal appointment and mother has to get a refferal for mental health services, parents agree to go to a new parent support class, last thing it says that no name calling or hitting each other. So I'm confused what If i dont do what this sheet of papaer says? plus my husband isnt allowed to talk to me because of his chain of command so how are we suppose to sort out any issues if we can't talk? can they really expect me to not be mad at him and cool down when i can't express my feelings towards everything? Rotator Cuff Burns when i lift, Arm feels like its falling out of socket, Please He?

Roughly year ago, i did Lat pulldown behind head and hurt my left arm because it couldnt pull down, the shoulder burn for a week and then pain died down. But when i lift now my arm feels shaky, specifially the rotator cuff is weak, and also when i walk it feels like left arm is falling out of socket, like hanging out. Trying to strengthen cuff with massage and light r.cuff exercises, and i tried to pop my arm in so it feels a little better, but i have this problem for a year now. How to deal with this please?

My computer is acting up.?

Here's the problem, I was using safari browsing the internet, when I got a pop up from (what I assumed was) my task bar. It was the usual update stuff with nothing fancy attached. then after it finished I turned off my computer. the next day I go to turn it on and off my firewall is acting up telling me that safari isn't trustable and i can't get to the internet through safari (or Google Chrome, firefox, etc.) The only internet source that it "allows" is internet explorer. I am not technologically impaired or anything, I went to and through my firewall settings and everything was allowed (everything mentioned anyway ). Also I have Norton, and it is messed up to the point where it won't respond to anything, only the uninstaller loads up, and then crashes. Please help.

It would depend? Idk if I would ever have a boyfriend that's hearing impaired, but there was one woman I knew who was partially deaf in both ears, and I never even knew she was deaf till, like 3 years after I met her when she told me. I mean, she usually couldn't hear people if they were not talking in front of her, unless they were yelling, and she did have to ask people to repeat themselves a lot, but I never really had a problem with it. I would think it would be easier to be around someone who's partially deaf, as opposed to just deaf, though, because I don't know if anyone who's 100% deaf can be helped with hearing aids.

Ok I don't know my blood alcohol level and I wasn't given a breathalyzer. I had 3 drinks at a bar at around midnight leaving at 2am and approached by police at almost 3am. I remember the event exactly and was not impaired. I was rear ended by a car then got out to discuss the matter and exchange insurance info. The guy would not give me his info he claimed I backed into him (no damage but scratches on my vehicle) The cop immediately ask me was I drinking. I said no I was upset that he could care less about the accident as well He simply arrested me and parked my car on the side of the road. I took a urine hours later at the station. While waiting I went to sleep (I did not pass out at all) I had just gotten off work and headed to dinner so I was exhausted (I have proof) They decided to take me to the hospital where I slept and was given an IV. What could be wrong with me considering the following symptoms?

I will randomly get very lightheaded, flushed, start sweating, my hearing gets impaired and start hearing like static speakers (kind of the feeling of on a plane when ears need popped), dizziness (sometimes like I am spinning, other times like the world is spinning). 50cc dirtbike improvement?

Ok so I have a 50cc dirt bike. Some chinese model. I have had it for about 5-6 years now. It tops out at about 15mph alittle less on flat smooth pavement. (I'm 130 lbs) I want to make it go uprange of 30mph. 30-35 would be plenty fast. I heard you could change the carb and the fuel jets on these little bikes for some more speed. Would it be difficult? I have some experiance with small engines(weedeaters, lawnmowers, mopeds). Would it cost alot? I'm 13 and don't have alot of spare cash with all my other hobbies(fishing, hunting, R/C). I'm now a current a college student at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have a average GPA. I have 50 hours of credit, majoring in General Biology so I can transfer to community college out of the state which have a program and then hoping to transfer to RIT(Rochester institution of technology) to major in Bioinformatics or Biotechnology. I’m just wonder if I have any chance of getting in because it seem like a very good school for me. Also I’m hearing impaired, the school I’m going to in New Orleans doesn’t have the right service for disability students, my language are Sign English and I don’t really use American Sign Language because I never learned it until I started at Delgado. My weakest are in English since most of the teachers and the lab don’t seem to be working well with me, the advisor kept putting me in wrong classes over and over. You need to consult a lawyer before going forward and no matter what you do they will be looking for a way to get rid of you because you are a potential source of controversy and head aches for them. Sorry, not legal or fair but employers are never worried about that when it comes to employees rights.

Can I be fired for being hearing impaired?

I have severe hearing loss. 85% of my hearing is gone. I had meningitis when i was 2 yrs old which resulted in my loss of hearing. I am 28, so i have been wearing hearing aids for 26 years. All my life i tried to act as if i did not have a disability. I tried to function as best as i could although i believe my life would be drastically different if i would have been able to hear normal. My hearing as made it hard for me at time to reach my potential in school and at work. Recently i quit a good job to accept a job at a class one railroad. I talked to the railroad hiring manager at my initial interview about my condition and ultimately i was offered the job and passed a pre employment health screening which included a hearing test. I was offered the job. I worked there for 3 months, then i was put on suspension because i had a hard time understanding the work radio. I have been on suspension for over a month. I requested special accommodation to allow me to hear better, which is why they put me on unpaid suspension so they could order something for me. Im not sure its even right to put me on unpaid suspension since i provided all my medical evidence to them before being hired for the job. I have a strong feeling that ultimately i will be fired from this job because of my hearing issues. Hopefully that will not be the case. Does my employer have the right to fire me because of my hearing condition. Should they at least try and find me some other work to do within their company that doesn't require me to hear over a work radio?

Okay, well the girls at schools are so mean. I'm getting my license soon, and I remember that my instructor from driver's ed gave us a sheet that we are supposed to log our hours on from driving. Please Help me I am so lost/in an unreal situation!?

The other day I was having dinner by myself and had a little wine with it(2 glasses at very most). Three hours later, I swear it was this long, I had just received VERY upsetting news and decided on a whim to take a trip from LA to Santa Barbara. I did not feel any intoxication whatsoever at this point. I was devastated by the news I received which caused me to bawl my eyes out the entire way to SB. So I made it all the way to Santa Barbara and was pulled over for putting my blinker on too late before turning. The cop has me follow her finger, which I do fine. She has me get out of my vehicle and do all the sobriety tests. I walk the line and raise my foot and am completely competent throughout all of this. The male cop that is also there looks at her and says... she seems fine? And she kept looking at him to be the judge and he was like you're the one doing it? Anyway so then she asks if I will do the breathalyzer, which of course, I know that I am not drunk by any means, so I agree to. I end up blowing a .081. I am completely baffled and so is the male cop. The lady says I'm under arrest and puts me in her car. She then tells me I am allowed to do a blood test which I say I definitely want to do. I keep reading conflicting information about whether blood test will register lower BAC or not but my god I wasn't drunk it had been close to five hours since my wine at this point. So currently I am awaiting the results of the blood test and praying to jesus, buddah, just everybody that it comes back under .08. I am a full time college student that also works full time and I can't afford any of this or to tell my parents. The thought of them finding out causes me to want to immediately commit suicide. I would never be able to tell anyone this in real life. All I have been doing is researching everything there is to know about DUI cases/methods of suicide. If you had my parents you'd be in the same boat. I need help you guys please help me this is the worst thing that could've ever happened. I would never get in a car after being intoxicated.. So if my blood test comes back over .08, I'm opting for the Public Defender because like I said I work my constantly and all of my money goes to rent, food, gas and school. This wasn't a case of getting trashed at a club then jumping in my car without a second thought. I don't even party let alone hardly ever drink and I've never driven in the car with a drunk driver or been the driver. This was a situation where I rationally didn't at all suspect I was impaired by any means. I just turned 21 three months ago. I used to suffer from severe depression and it still creeps up on me once in a while and right now it's brought back all my suicidal thoughts. If you know God...then that trumps all of the intellectual questions b/c after all ...dying is not so much an intellectual exercise is it? Dying is about facing a "journey". When I die I will no longer be here. Where will I be? I cannot push a button, sprinkle some fairy dust or any such thing to get God to "perform". My first encouragement is to go to Him. I'm serious...all of these questions and things you're thinking about...no pretending...just lay it all out in front of Him. (After all if he is who He claims to be...He can handle all of that and more.) Ask Him to clarify some of these things and be truthful about your skepticism or fear (or both). The second encouragement is to find a live human who you trust who you could sit face to face with and have a conversation. These are very important questions. I hope that even in a small way this is helpful.

Well I finally got to the doctor two days, and she confirmed my sinus infection and said that I had A LOT of fluid behind by ears, but my ears had not bothered me.She put me on azithromycin 500 mg (1 a day for 3 day), saline spray as needed, and mucinex D as needed. I started all of it about lunch time the first day, and by 8 pm I had an earache that was so painful that I was crying. It hurt from my ear all the down my jawline almost to my mouth. I was up until about 3 am. I tried eardrops, heating pad, massaging around base of my ear but nothing working. And ear would "pop" like when the pressure changes and it was painful each time, but one time it popped and it was almost immediate relief. But I called the doctor and she prescribed me ear drops and a mild pain pill. So my ear will still pop and it hurts a lot when it does, but it has a full feeling and my hearing is impaired in it. Also there is almost like a ringing noise in it. And my headache has intensified to where I have to have an ice pack on my head and the pain killer has not helped at all. So overall I feel worse than when I initially went to the doctor, although it has stopped my sore throat. I only have one my antibiotic so you would think I woould feel better now. Just taking any thoughts on why I feel worse. Also I am going back to doctor later today. Thanks

Possible concussion to front and back of head?

I had bad fall from a ladder about 10 feet high and my head hit the flagstone pathway. It cut the upper right eye and the head, I went to get it stitched up, and had them removed yesterday. I've been having bad headaches after this happened, and my vision has been impaired to the point I can't see wall enough to work effectively. How can i play video games on my panasonic viera television?

Please help! I am trying to figure out how to play video games on my television. Whenever I plug in the red, white, and yellow visual and audio plugs from my xbox 360 in the vid 1 (in the back of the tv) or vid 2 (on the side) nothing happens. Starting Legion Ball tonight, nervous, Christians please help?

Ok. I'm Starting a 16-19 year old Legion Baseball team tonight, which is extrememly competetive. Whats worse, is that i got cut from spring ball this year as a junior for the second straight year. Im the youngest kid this summer and probably the one with the least amount of ability. Even the coach said if i sign up i probably wont get alot of playing time, or pretty much none. My motives for playing ball has always been because i love it, and that i just want to go out and have fun, try my best (thus giving glory to the Lord). I'm actually not that bad, i just get extreme stage fright (EVEN during practice). This impairs me, because i'm not focusing on making the play, but how all of my friends and buddies will laugh if i miss it. I desperately want to get past this so i can have a fun summer league season. Im going to spend some time alone with God before i go tonight, but if any christians want to offer me some advice, inspiration, or bible verses all is much appreciated. Prayer too.

it is a legitimate fear because of the shallowness of some people. personally i wouldn't, but i am sure there tons of us guys who would. and that is a shame, you miss out by doing something like that. i think you should tell him upfront about your disability. that way they, he, can decide if he wants to continue or not. hopefully he will not only continue, but will find a way to work with your disability so that you two have an enjoyable and fulfilling date.

Will Eating Certain Foods Impair My Weight Loss?

I eat pretty healthy on a regular basis, and exercise daily. I generally consume 1400-1600 calories a day. What I'm concerned about is if eating certain foods only once or twice a week will effect my weight loss. I'm a college student, and avoiding eating things like pizza and chinese food can be difficult. But as long as I control my portions, am I ok? I don't overdo it. And when I do order in, I usually spread the food out over a couple of days. Is it still ok to eat stuff like that as long as I'm still within my calorie range?
